In this introductory program to genetic genealogy, our speaker will take us step by step in determining the right test (autosomal, Y-DNA, mitochondrial DNA) and testing company for our wants and needs, as well as decoding the mysterious results. Whether you are a NEWBIE and need help understanding your results and what to do with them, or a WANNABE curious what DNA can do for your genealogy research, tune in on May 6th!

Genetic genealogist Cathy Ivins has been researching her family history for over twenty years. Cathy completed the Forensic Genealogy and Practical Genetic Genealogy courses at the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh, and countless conferences, which have assisted her in solving brick walls and identity cases. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience through lectures on utilizing DNA and/or social media for genealogical research, important tools for today’s genealogists. Cathy has been Director of Publicity for BCGS for ten years, and recently retired as an Instructional Assistant in an Autistic Support Classroom for Bristol Township School District after 26 years. She looks forward to her golden years down the genealogy rabbit hole. |
