This file is a transcription of a journal kept by Rev. Joseph Mathias (1778-1851), who served at pastor at Hilltown Baptist Church from 1805-1850 and for a few years at New Britain Baptist Church as well.  The original journal is in the collection of the Mercer Museum Library in Doylestown (formerly the Bucks County Historical Society Library), and was transcribed by Thomas G. Myers. 

This diary of a Civil War soldier from Bucks County was donated to the Bucks County Genealogical Society.  The diary was written in 1865, and was found in 2015 in the attic of a building in Wilmington Delaware.
