Types of records available:
For details of their vast collection, check their website at www.hsp.org. They have an online catalog which can be searched. Their collections cover all of the states East of the Mississippi with the largest concentration on Pennsylvania. Their Pennsylvania Room contains Church Records, Cemetery records, Philadelphia City Directories, Family History books, and Philadelphia Port books. The have a microform room with wills, deeds and other records. There is a huge Card Catalog which has some cards that have not be digitized. They have vast manuscripts which can be viewed in the Reading Room. They are a Family History Affiliate Library and records from the Family History Center can be viewed on their computers.
Comments:
Bags of any sort are not allowed. Lockers are provided free of charge. Food and drink are not permitted in the library; however, there is a lounge where you can eat and coffee is available. Laptops and cell phones (on silent) are permitted. Photographs of materials is permitted without flash. The Photograph Policy should be read and followed.
