Join us for our in-person program to be presented by Deidre Pearson on the Underground Railroad - its scope, history, and ties to our area.  The Continental Tavern, a way station along the Underground Railroad, provides history in itself as we gather for a meal.

Cost: $38 per person includes house salad, potato salad, and choice of:

  • Chicken Salad Wrap (romaine, sliced apples, crains and walnuts)
  • Corned Beef Special (Russian dressing and cole slaw on rye bread)
  • Tomato, Basil, and Mozzarella Sliders

as well as soft drinks, coffee, tea and dessert.

Please note that our luncheon is on the second floor. The Continental Tavern is old and historic, and not handicap accessible. There are wide steps up to the Parlor Room.

Deirdre Pearson

  Our speaker will be Deirdre Pearson, a regionally known lecturer in black history. Deirdre received her B.A. in American History from Lincoln University. She taught history and special education during her 25-year career with the School District of Pennsylvania. She is well-versed in Black History, and has a special interest in the Civil Rights era of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s.
