Zotero for Genealogy: Harnessing the Power of Your Research Part 2 |
Zotero for Genealogy Part II expands on Part I, describing how to creatively use Zotero’s resources to serve your research beyond the essential citation management. In this session, Baker will demonstrate the various ways that she has enhanced her genealogical and historical research, using this tool. You will see how to set up a research tickler system, preparing you to get the most out of any trips to archives and probate offices. You will learn how to track research questions or to-do items, letting Zotero be your reminder of where you left your research and where you need to go from here. Baker will demonstrate how she efficiently handles the extraction of information of sources that mention or involve many different ancestors. She will show how you can turn your research into a timeline. And she will show how she uses Zotero as her legend to her self-made maps of ancestral territories.

|
Donna Cox Baker has a PhD in history and recently retired from a career in historical publishing. She began her journey in genealogy in 1985, and her love for history followed. In the past decade, she began to integrate genealogy into her historical profession and created a side business that blends them in a hybrid form she calls genohistory (see Genohistory.com). Zotero was her essential tool for her PhD dissertation work. She later realized its value for genealogy and applied it to that career. She has written two related books: Zotero for Genealogy: Harnessing the Power of Your Research and The Zotero Solution: Knowledge Management for the Scholarly Researcher. |
